How To Adopt A Cow and a Listing of Cows

1) Adoption is $420 for one year or $35 a month for one year. Adoption helps to cover the maintenance of your cow      or ox.

2) Write your check, addressed to ISCOWP for $420 or $35 and the name of the cow or ox you have chosen to adopt.  You can now also pay on-line. Simply click the adopt button next to the cow you want to adopt.

3) You receive a monthly picture update on your adopted cow or ox, an "8 by 10" photo of the cow or ox of your choice, an adoption certificate, monthly dried  organic produce from our garden, and the good feeling that you are helping to protect Lord Krsna’s cows.

4) If you are adopting by mail, send the information and check to: ISCOWP, RD 1 Box 322A, Moundsville, WV 26041 USA.

For  further info or a different payment plan, please email the adoption program at iscowp@earthlink.net.

When you see the word Adopted by a cow it means that someone has adopted that cow. Some of our cows are adopted by more than one person and this helps us greatly in caring for that cow especially with medical needs when they arise. The majority of our herd is approaching old age and there are more medical bills now than before when they were younger.  When you see no Adopted word by a cow it means no one has adopted that cow and she or he very much needs you to adopt them!

If you have adopted a cow and would like your name listed as an adopter next to that cow's bio, please drop us a note at: iscowp@earthlink.net

Gourangi

Age: 13  year old cow

Breed: Holstein

Herd Status: Mid level management

Nature: She is one of the quiet members of the herd but she can also kick up her heels and dance in early spring when heading out for new spring pasture.  At times she is a breakout artist and can be found on the wrong side of the fence with the other cows watching her graze the “greener” grass.  There have been times when she has lead herd breakouts with a mischievous glint in her eye.   She is a good natured matriarch with a touch of rascal thrown in for sweetener.

Big Shyam

Age: 13  years old ox
Breed: Black-Angus Holstein,
Herd Status: Adolescent
Nature: He is like a huge teddy bear that you just always want to hug and hug.  He likes to lick to show his affection.  Just by his size he has some position in herd status, but he has no agenda to be moving up in herd status.  He is partially trained for working.

Adopted by the Mausert family (Kirtana-rasa, Beth, children: Claire-Chaitanya,

Nathan-Kesava, Oliver Rupa )

Nanda has passed away

Age: 14 year old ox
Breed: Holstein & Simmental
Herd Status: Elder and Retired
Nature:  In his appearance he looks more like his Simmental father.  He is very big but is very gentle and friendly.  Nanda is trained to work but unfortunately he has a pinched nerve/disk problem in his back and this has put him in the retired status in the herd.  In the winter we keep a very close eye on him as it is hard for him to navigate when the ground gets slick with snow and ice.  Many times he needs to be lead to the barn just to make sure that he is in a safe, dry place for the evening.  He is always appreciative of the extra help extended to him.

Adopted by the Contreras Family

Radhe Shyam

Age: 18 +  years old cow
Breed: Holstein
Herd Status: Matriarch
Nature: She has a very gentle, motherly nature. She was amongst the NV herd that was grazing here when we first bought the property in 1996. When they were moved, she kept escaping and coming back to us. We decided to keep her with us since she obviously liked being with us. At present she is in very good health even though one of the oldest cows in our herd.
Adopted by Karthik and Kamatchi Venkataramani
